Maria Diamond Receives two AAJ Awards at Annual Convention

In July 2020, Maria Diamond received two awards from the American Association for Justice (AAJ) at their annual convention. For the seventh time, Maria received the Wiedemann & Wysocki Award, which recognizes members who have made outstanding efforts in support of AAJ’s Political Action Committee (PAC). The award is named in honor of Fritz Wiedemann and James Anthony Wysocki, two New Orleans-based attorneys and active AAJ members who were traveling on assignment to help AAJ when they died in a tragic plane crash. This award recognizes members who have carried on their legacy and who are passionately committed to the principles of the civil justice system and AAJ’s mission.

At the same convention, Maria also received the Above and Beyond Award, which recognizes AAJ members who have made exceptional contributions to sustain and strengthen the organization. As Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ) board member Ian Bird said, “. . . Maria does an incredible job for AAJ and its mission.”

“After my car was totaled in an accident, the other driver gave a false name, left the scene, and left me alone on the side of the road with a concussion. Afterwards, insurance companies were contacting me with confusing information that I knew was not right, but I had no idea how to deal with them on my own. I was so fortunate to be directed to Maria Diamond. She made a personal visit to see me and learn what happened. Maria agreed to take my case and kept me informed and prepared for every step through the arbitration process and a successful outcome. My family is so grateful to Maria for her expertise, professionalism, and support during a very confusing and hurtful time. I would recommend her to anyone.” Sue Byron
